Penerapan Metode Quality of Service (QoS) untuk Menganalisa Kualitas Jaringan Studi Kasus Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis

Abstract

The rapid development of internet technology has increased the demand for high-quality network performance, especially in educational institutions like Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis (POLBENG). Currently, POLBENG provides free wireless internet access (Hotspot Polbeng), but users, including students, faculty, and staff, have reported inconsistent and slow internet speeds. To address this issue, this research applies the Quality of Service (QoS) method to analyze the network's performance. QoS is a critical tool for evaluating key network parameters such as throughput, packet loss, delay, and jitter. This study focuses on assessing these parameters to determine the overall quality of the POLBENG network. Data collection was performed across various campus locations using tools like Wireshark to measure network performance. The findings will help identify areas for improvement, optimize bandwidth usage, and enhance the reliability and stability of the internet service. Ultimately, this research aims to support POLBENG in providing a more efficient and effective internet service, contributing to better academic and administrative operations.
