Abstract

Experiments on generator engines are needed to determine efficiency and fuel consumption as a power output function. The parameters used in the experiment are engine speed (rpm), voltage (Volts), current (Amperes), and fuel consumption per second (Seconds), with the light bulbs as the load (Watts). The test equipment of the Integrated Laboratory of the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan is mainly composed of three parts, which are a stand-alone fuel gauge, a Yanmar TF85MLYS diesel engine and a Denyo FA-5 generator in the chassis, and a load panel with 40 bulbs (100W each). Operators utilize a tachometer, multimeter, clamp meter, modified measuring cup, and a stopwatch to manually measure each test instrument, at least three operators are required at a time. The modification of the load panel into a digital observation panel optimized the experiments where measurements can be carried out by a person in one observation panel at a time efficiency of 62.28%.
