Abstract

The diesel motor is an engine that is used as the main driving source. one of its application functions as an electric generator drive. in Megapower Bengkalis PLTD uses Komatsu diesel engine as a generator drive to supply electricity on Bengkalis island. This diesel engine often damages the cylinder head. This study uses the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method to analyze the causes of damage to the cylinder head of the Komatsu diesel engine used by PT. Bengkalis PLTD Megapower. FMEA method is a method used to analyze failures that often occur in components that may be the cause of failure of the cylinder head. The results of the analysis obtained by the components of the critical cylinder head based on the Fishbone diagram which are five failures with the greatest potential value of RPN The thought is the Crooked guide (Crosshead) (810), Spring Outer Leakage (720), Spring Inner under Leakage (720), Spring Inner top Leaking (576), Expansion Plug (Large Inside) Detachable (405), and Leaking Steam Valve Seals (400). The five components are the main priority priorities that cause failure in the cylinder head causing interference with the Komatsu diesel engine.
