Abstract

High Speed Craft (HSC) is a high speed ship for civil use, also called fast craft or fast ferry. Ship resistance is one of the main factors affecting the process of designing a ship. Basically, ship resistance can be reduced by using a bulbous bow attached to the ship's bow construction. Various bulbous bow designs have been developed according to the shape of the fore section of the ship, namely delta, ellipse and nabla types. From the analysis that has been carried out, it is found that the resistance value of the ship using the bulbous bow is smaller than the planing ship model. The smallest total resistance value was obtained in the model using the Nabla type bulbous bow, which was 135.3 kN. As for the resistance values of the other models, the delta type is 136.0 kN, the elliptical type is 136.3 kN and the planing model is 149.3 kN.
