Abstract

This research informs environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and easy-to-implement techniques in the manufacture of Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) nanoparticles.  For this purpose, purebred chicken eggshell waste is crushed using porcelain mortar and then calcined in two stages, namely at a temperature of 600 °C and 900 °C with a temperature of 5 ° C / minute. Characterization of calcined results using XRD instrumentation, and identified the cfactal phase Ca(OH)2 nanoparticles at angles of 2θ (°) 17.82, 28.54, 33.92. The acquisition of Ca(OH)2 crystalline phase products using top-down techniques is 76.70% with a size of 11.23 nm.  In addition to the main product, a crystal phase of CaO of 23.30% was also obtained which was identified at peaks of 2θ (°);32.04, 37.22, 53.78, and through calculations using the Debeye Scherrer equation obtained a particle size of 31.07 nm.
