Abstract

This Final Project (TA) is about the manufacture of a remote control towing tug for a Cessna 172 aircraft which serves to assist in the process of moving from hangar to apron. In this final project, the aim is to design and manufacture a remote control towing tug by applying carbon steel material to get a towing tug structure that can withstand a Cessna 172 nose wheel which load is 329.30 kg with a safety factor > 1.5. In the application, there are several things to do. First, make a design for the remote control towing tug. Second, analyze the numerical simulation on the towing tug that is exposed to the nose wheel load with static simulation using SolidWorks software. Third, do the manufacturing process on the remote control towing tug.
The results of this final project at simulation stage obtained the value of stress load that occurred in the remote control towing tug structure. The maximum value of Von Misses Stress was 33,216 Mpa in the middle plate frame with safety factor of 8.51. Then, the results of the manufacturing process by testing a simple structure load using a human load with a total load of 337 Kg and a remote control towing tug is capable of withstanding loads exceeding the Cessna 172 nose wheel load.
